Recently, a very interesting discovery was made: in short, a 10,000 year old skeleton, Cheddar Man. Found originally in Cheddar, England,
it seems as though this individual had dark skin, curly hair, and blue eyes. This is an extremely interesting concept, and according to National Geographic, it “proves he’s genetically similar to other dark-skinned individuals from the Mesolithic era found in Spain, Hungary and Luxembourg whose DNA has already been sequenced” (National Geographic 2018). The most surprising concept of this finding, is the fact that the majority of individuals are not aware of how recent lighter pigmentation among Europeans took place.
